Tour Itinerary Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Tour Soon after the Nazis took power, the future head of the SS (Heinrich Himmler) ordered the construction of Dachau to serve as a prison for political (and later social and ethnic) enemies of Nazi Germany. By the time American soldiers liberated the camp in 1945, more than 40,000 people had lost their lives to the camp's deadly conditions and the guards' brutality. We provide a fully comprehensive tour. Our guides have been specially AUTHORIZED by the Camp Memorial to provide tours within the Camp (many companies claim a full tour, but only accompany you to the camp, so watch out - we provide the full package.) Where and When? Tuesday-Sunday at 10:45 AM and 1:00 PM (Memorial is closed on Monday) by the column in the center of Marienplatz (S/U-Bahn).
