Dachau Memorial tour
Munich
From Radius Tours and Bikes |
Tour Itinerary
The former concentration camp at Dachau is now preserved as a memorial to the tens of thousands of people, of various nationalities, who suffered and died there at the hands of the Nazis between 1933 & 1945.
During the roughly 3 hours which you have at the Memorial you will get to see the complete site both inside and out. Inspect the re-created barrack block and try to imagine the horrific conditions in which the prisoners lived. See the Bunker (prison) where torture was a regular event and pass through the gateway with the cruelly misleading words "ARBEIT MACHT FREI" (Freedom through work). Visit too the disguised gas chamber and the 2 crematoriums. There will also be time to watch the 22-minute long documentary film (in English) made from footage by both the Nazis and the liberating American troops.
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it

The tour is conducted by a native english-speaking guide.

FAQs About the Tour |
RADIUS TOURS AND BIKES
About Radius Tours and Bikes:
Founded in 1988 and British/German owned, we are dedicated to providing high quality tours. Why else would Rick Steves choose us to provide his groups with guided tours in Munich if we weren't simply the best?
The RADIUS office (meeting point for all tours) is centrally located in Munich's central train station (Hauptbahnhof) near track 32.
We offer 4 different tours daily, running in summer a total of 8 tours a day. The most popular tour is that to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial, where we are a officially recognised tour provider, followed by the ever popular ' tour to Neuschwanstein Castle (the 'Disney castle').
In addition to the city walking tours we have a large bicycle rental (also located in the train station) and from there we also offer guided bike tours (for pre-booked groups only) in and around Munich.
Our team of highly trained native-English speaking guides look forward to welcoming you onto their tours. |
